The Czech carmaker, Skoda India has announced that the new MD of Skoda will be Gurupratap Bopari for the operations carried out in India and this will be effective from 2nd April 2018. Gurupratap Bopari previously worked as the CEO of Fiat India and he had 25 years of experience in the automobile industry. This appointment was made after Sudir Rao left the Skoda in May 2017 and hereafter the Managing Director of Skoda India will be Gurupratap Bopari.
The appointment of Gurupratap Bopari as a Managing Director took place at the time when India market plays a vital role in the global growth of Skoda. The Skoda company also stated that Gurupratap Bopari will assume the role from 2nd April and he has to report directly to the CEO of Skoda Mr. Bernhard Maier.

Bopari Previous Work Info:
Mr.Gurupratap Bopari was worked as CEO of Fiat India from the year 2012 until a few months before. He had almost 25 years of experience in the automobile industry as well. He had joined in Fiat in the year 2017 as Assistant Vice President in the division of Manufacturing and Powertrain and after two years that is in 2009, he became the head of the powertrain division.
After this promotion, he was responsible for business development and all other functions of powertrain plants which will be from manufacturing and finance to HR and PE. Bopari also worked in TELCO which is now known as Tata Motors, Ocap Chassis Parts, Iveco and Tata Cummins. In every place he worked he gained some skills and knowledge in sectors like manufacturing, vendor development, and sourcing.
Statement Given By Skoda:
In an official statement which was given by the company recently also stated that the Indian market plays a great role in the global growth strategy of the Skoda. The VW Group also commissioned the Skoda to introduce a way for developing low-cost Eco car platform for the Indian’s sensitive markets regarding the modular MQB A0.Skoda also adds a statement that it aims to launch vehicles in India on this localized platform in the year 2020 and Bopari is responsible for launching this in India.

The Skoda plans to launch vehicles in 2020 on which more stringent crash, as well as emission models, will come into force. Gurupratap has recently executed Jeeps’s volumes model compass in India and it becomes a success. It also plans to manufacture more competitive models for the brands of Skoda and Volkswagon in India. Currently, the Skoda Auto India offers four models in India and the models include sedans Octavia, Superb, Rapid and SUV Kodiaq which is newly launched and produced in Aurangabad.
By launching these four models, the company has achieved 30% more growth in 2017 in which the company has recorded his highest growth. By new models, the company is now aiming to maintain the double-digit growth in the year 2018. The company is now currently manufacturing the Pune Plant where the four models are manufactured in Aurangabad where its headquarters is located. Skoda has 70 dealerships and 70 service centers in India for their customers.
