In the auto industry, all and sundry are moving towards SUVs and trucks and it is time for the famous sports car maker Lamborghini also to jump on board. 2019 Urus is its attempt to cash in on the lucrative high-performance luxury SUV market.
The car will be competing against the likes of cars like the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, Mercedes Benz G-Wagen and Land Rover Range Rover.
The name Urus is derived from one of the large, wild ancestors of domestic cattle. The Urus styling is strongly influenced by Lamborghini’s line up of sports cars and adapting it to the requirements of an SUV like rear doors, rear seats, trunk space and obviously higher ground clearance.
The interior design theme is unmistakably Lamborghini. The SUV don’t get the flamboyant scissor doors, instead get normal wide opening ones which makes the ingress and egress more graceful. As per the information, Urus will get the Level 2 driver assistance that provides steering and braking assistance at lower speeds. It is not exactly autonomous but will be the most-self driving Lamborghini car launched till date.
The car is powered by a massive 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 power mill which generates a peak power of 650 hp and can catapult this SUV to triple digits in just 3.6 seconds. The car can attain a top speed of 304 kmph. The car gets a steerable rear wheel and gets a whole host of preset driving modes controlled through the “Tamburo” selector inside the car. The off-road capability of the Urus is guaranteed, with Lamborghini strapping the car with a sophisticated four-wheel-drive system as standard equipment which automatically sends the power to all the four wheels as per the requirement.
The car is expected to be priced in the Rs 4.5-5 crore range and is expected in the second half of 2018 calendar year in India.
