The 2018 Auto Expo will witness five new models from the Tata stable, as suggested by a new teaser image which shows the silhouette of the offerings. A tweet by Tata revealed that additional information for each of the new models will be revealed before the end of Janaury. It had already been reported that the Indian carmaker is expected to bring its new Baleno and i20 rival, codenamed X451, as well as codenamed H5, its five-and-seven-seat rival to the Creta and Compass, to the Auto Expo. Besides, the teaser unveils a new sedan and two commercial vehicles that will hold the focus of Tata’s stall at the Expo. You can expect to see the following at Tata Motor’s pavilion :
- Tata X451- Based on the new Advanced Modular Platform by Tata Motors, the X451 will boast of Tata’s new design language, called Impact Design 2.0. Further, it will get uprated versions of the Tiago’s 1.2litre petrol engine and 1.05litre diesel motor. The Nexon’s 1.2litre turbo-petrol engine may also be introduced later on. The launch date is expected to be sometime in 2019.
- Tata H5: To be available as a five-seven-seater, the production-spec H5 will be underpinned by the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s L550 platform. It will be powered by FCA’s 2.0litre, four-cylinder MultiJet II diesel engine, and will get the 140hp version, while the seven-seater will get it in a 170hp tune.
- as far as commercial vehicles are concerned, the teaser reveals very less information about what is expected to be seen at the event. However, one is expected to be a people carrier and the other is expected to be a goods carrier.
- Alongside, there will also be 26 smart mobility solutions included in Tata’s display at the Auto Expo. The Smart Mobility pavilion of the brand will be split into interactive zones like Residential Zone, Sports Zone, Smart Energy Zone, and Inter and Intracity Zone. Each zone, along with its digital engagements centred around the exhibits of the product, is expected to offer Auto Expo audiences with a fascinating experience.
Seemingly, Tata is pushing the envelope in its attempt to maximize its participation at the expo, though many manufacturers are staying away from it. Besides the vehicles, the carmaker is also expected to showcase its capabilities and mobility solutions aimed at smart cities.
