Tata Motors has shown the Tiago and Tigor JTP versions at the 2018 Auto Expo. The sports version of the Tiago was being worked on in August 2016 and the model has been shown at the Auto Expo 2018 with the Tigor compact sedan’s sporty version. The two performance-based versions of the Tiago and Tigor have been created by the company as part of a collaboration with Jayem Automotives. Both cars will have the JTP suffix which indicates Jayem Tata Performance as per reports.
Both these models get the three cylinders 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine from the Tata Nexon and the exhaust and intake systems have been tuned for better performance. The engine makes 110 hp and 150 Nm and the gear ratios have been optimized on the regular 5-speed manual transmission units. The suspension systems have been revamped and there are lowered springs with slightly lowered ride height. The JTP versions are different from the regular models.
There is a big air dam for the front bumpers along with big housings for fog lamps and air vents for the fenders and bonnet. There are side skirts, smoked projector headlamps and a rear diffuser. The diamond cut alloy wheels are highly attractive and the rim size has been kept at 15 inches. There is a rear drum brake along with front disc brakes. The cabin is transformed and comes with a premium leather finish for the seats and steering wheel in tandem with contrast stitching in red and all-black theme. There are aluminium pedals and an upgraded infotainment unit which is now a touch screen system paired to 8 speakers from Harman.
Tata Motors is expected to launch the Tiago and Tigor Sport models soon in the Indian market.
