The Tata Nexon will be rivaled by the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. While it gets only a 6-speed manual as standard, for now, Tata is likely to add a 6-speed AMT option with both the petrol and diesel-powered version of the SUV within six months of the launch. The price of this model is expected to be quite competitive, belonging in the range of Rs. 6-9 lakh. It will boast of many several segment-first features. In fact, it is equipped with certain premium features that even some of the pricier models lack. These include the activity band key, 6.5inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto amongst others.

The Nexon will generate power with turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The diesel engine belongs to Tata’s Revotorq family and is a 1.5litre, 4 cylinder unit. On the other hand, the petrol engine will be powered by a 1.2litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged unit belonging to Tata’s family of Revotron engines. Both the engines will be teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission and will deliver 110PS of maximum power. Consequently, the diesel Nexon will be more powerful than the Brezza and EcoSport. The Nexon will also be offered with a 6 speed automated manual transmission. Buyers will be impressed by the 3 drive modes- Eco, City, and Sport. It will fascinate automobile enthusiasts with features like projector headlamps, an 8-speaker sound system, and climate control, besides daytime running lights, a smart key, push-button start, etc. It also packs in standard safety equipment like ABS airbags and cornering stability control.
Tata’s first compact SUV, Nexon expects to allure Indian car buyers as recent trends suggest that they are more inclined towards compact SUVs rather than sedans or hatchbacks. Thus, the Nexon could turn out to be a game changer for Tata.
