The Tata Q501 is supposed to be jointly developed by Tata Motors and Land Rover, sharing technology and components. The Q501 will be based on the Discovery Sport platform while it is expected to be powered by a FIAT-sourced 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine. Design of the car – It is expected to be almost similar to the new generation Tata cars Bolt and Zest. The front will incorporate the famous humanity line and the side will have a muscular profile. It will also offer some of the latest gizmos such as projector lights, day time running LED strips along with LED tail lights. It is also expected to have a similar wheelbase akin to its rival models. Inside the new model, the interiors have been planned to be a several notches above the conventional hatchback and Sean with premium quality fabric seats, touchscreen infotainment system again powered by Harman Kardon and many more features, which remain to be a strong point for Connectnext. The Tata Q501 will source its power from the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel mill that will also be used on the Jeep Compass. This motor is capable of churning out 169.9bhhp of power against 350Nm of torque. The SUV will come with both manual and automatic gearbox options.

Performance and price range of the car – The brand new Tata Q501 will be powered by a 1.5-litre Fiat sourced engine and supported with a standard 5-Speed manual transmission. It is expected that Tata Motors may think of the higher displacement 1.6-litre engine which is seen on the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and this makes 117 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. This unit also comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The prices of Tata Q501 are expected to lie in the range of Rs. 10.5 – 13 lakhs. It will sit at a position below Tata Safari Storme, as the compact SUV segment has made it difficult for the Storme as well. As far as the launch in India is concerned, the Tata Q501 will have strong contenders against it in the premium SUV category.
The Tata Q501 is sure to fill the gap between the top-end Hexa and the entry level Land Rover SUVs and will compete against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai Santa Fe, the Chevrolet Trailblazer etc. Sharing its underpinning with the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the all-new Tata Q501 will be stacked against the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. With an aim to give a tough fight to its arch rivals, the SUV is likely to come with a competitive price tag. It is expected that the overall design and styling of the Q501 will be completely different from its donor SUV. The Tata Q501 SUV is supposed to come with both 5-seats as well as 7-seats options to target both enthusiasts and family buyers, respectively.
