Tata Motors is gearing up for the 2018 Auto Expo in a big way as per reports. The mega automobile event will see Tata Motors showcasing several models like the Tiago Sport, Tamo Racemo, X452 mid-sized sedan (expected) and the X451 premium hatchback among other attractions. However, the latest reports also state that the company may display its upcoming Q501 and Q502 SUVs at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The Q502 is believed to be a premium SUV that will take on the likes of the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson in India and will be a more premium 7-seater offering between Rs. 15-20 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Q501 is expected to be a 5-seater premium SUV that will compete with the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster in the Indian market in the price point between Rs. 10-15 lakhs (ex-showroom). The SUVs both use the L550 platform used by the old-generation Land Rover Discovery which will be localized by Tata Motors.

The Q501 or H5 as it is called internally, may be a replacement for the Safari SUV which is ageing rapidly in the Indian market. The cars are reportedly being tested in the country and versions shown at the 2018 Auto Expo may be quite close to production. The exterior and interior designs may be radically different for both these cars while they could also get the MultiJet II 2.0 litre diesel engine taken from Fiat. This will churn out 140 BHP and 170 BHP respectively for the two models and will be mated to 6-speed manual and automatic transmission systems. Two and four-wheel drive options should be available for both the cars.
