The new Tesla Roadster will be able to touch 100 kilometres per hour in only 1.9 seconds and will have a top speed of 402 kilometres per hour. This has wowed car fans worldwide and the second generation Tesla Roadster was unveiled at the launch of the Tesla Semi electric truck. The new Roadster offers awe-inspiring performance and according to Elon Musk, it should give a hardcore smack-down to regular gasoline powered cars. The new Roadster is set to be the fastest ever series production model with regard to its quarter mile racing abilities and 0-100 kmph figures.
The new Tesla Roadster easily outstrips the best hypercars such as the Koenigsegg Agera and Bugatti Chiron and gets three electric motors which deliver power to all its four wheels. There is a 200-kWh battery pack for the car which helps it complete the 0-100 kmph dash in only 1.9 seconds. 0-160 kmph will be achieved in just 4.2 seconds and a quarter-mile race can be completed in 8.9 seconds which equates to 400 metres.
According to Elon Musk, those who eventually drive the new Roadster will certainly feel that other major sportscars are major laggards. Tesla also offers a driving range of 1,000 km for the new Roadster with a single charge itself. The four-seater 2-door drop-top convertible will be launched globally by the year 2020. Bookings have already commenced for $5,000 and prices will start from $200,000 for the base version. $250,000 will be the price tag for the more exclusive Roadster Founders Series.
