Going by the latest reports, Toyota may be planning to launch the luxury Alphard MPV in the Indian market. The car will be shown at the 2018 Auto Expo as per reports, in a bid to gauge the views and responses of the public and also for garnering invaluable feedback as to its feasibility and potential market launch sometime later. The Alphard MPV will be targeted at tour and fleet operators as per reports.
The Alphard is being evaluated extensively for a possible Indian launch. Toyota is also studying the segment and its overall feasibility. Senior company officials have stated that Alphard and Hiace vehicles are being imported by several people for the traveller and tour categories and hence there may be a good market to be addressed here. Toyota is also considering how to tackle some challenges like governors for this vehicle class and also the fitting of speed limiters.
