Toyota, the world’s largest automaker launches their luxury brand Lexus in India. The brand Lexus originated from a corporate project to develop a new premium sedan, code-named F1, which began in 1983 and which culminated in the launch of the Lexus LS in 1989. Subsequently, Toyota brought sedan, coupe, convertible and SUV models under the brand.
Toyota, for the time being, is bringing three models under the Lexus brand to India: ES 300h sedan, RX 450h crossover, and LX 450d SUV. Prices already announced for the sedan and crossover. ES 300h is priced at ₹55.27 lakh and the RX 450h is priced at INR1.07 crore and INR1.09 crore for the standard and sportier F variant respectively.

Toyota currently will start with four dealerships in India, at Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurgaon. Lexus line-up will be serviced at the present Toyota service centres. The cars are imported from Toyota Japan.

The starting range ES 300h is a hybrid sedan which is powered by a 2.5-liter petrol engine coupled with a battery and a motor generator which dispenses 202hp. Next in line is the RX 450h crossover which is also a 308hp hybrid generated from a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine and a battery operated generator working in tandem. The RX 450h crosses triple digits on the speedo in an impressive 7.7 seconds. The RX 450h F is the sport variant and gets cosmetic additions to establish the sporty accents. The price of the large SUV LX 450d is yet to be announced and we expect it to be priced around ₹2 crore. The SUV will be powered by a 4.5-liter V8 and will be a non-hybrid.
RX 450h Crossover
Toyota has plans to steadily increase the line-up and has already indicated the plans for bringing the high-performance cars under Lexus brand in the future. Also, Toyota is exploring the possibility of local assembly of Lexus cars in India.

LX 450d SUV
