The Volkswagen Polo has been re-launched in the Indian market with a new 1.0-litre MPI petrol mill in place of the 1.2-litre MPI three-cylinder engine that has now been phased out. This engine made 75 PS and 110 Nm while the new petrol engine dishes out 76 BHP and 95 Nm. Prices will be the same for the Polo as per the official reports.
Fuel economy has gone up by 2.31 kmpl and now stands at 18.78 kmpl and the engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission system as standard. The Polo 1.0L MPI is lighter by the 1.2L MPI variant by 24 kg, 14 kg and 18 kg for the Comfortline, Highline & Highline+ and Trendline trims respectively.
The 6th generation Volkswagen Polo should get this new engine for its MQB platform as well. The new Polo is expected to arrive in 2020 or even later in the Indian market.
