Volkswagen Officially Debuts 2019 Jetta in Detroit

The North American International Show in Detroit is witnessing several interesting global debuts and the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta is definitely one to look out for! Volkswagen has finally unveiled the Jetta globally at the show and this is one of the most successful sedans for the brand across the globe ever since it launched back in 1979. The Jetta makes use of the MQB platform and the 2019 version looks sleeker and more refined in addition to offering higher interior space as compared to the previous model along with new technological features. The 2019 Jetta is priced from $18, 545 which equates to approximately INR 11.76 lakhs onwards. This is lower as compared to the base model of the previous version.

The Modular Transverse Matrix architecture from Volkswagen is used for this car and it comes with a 2684 mm wheelbase this time. There are shorter overhangs and the car is taller, wider and longer in comparison to the previous version. This ensures more legroom and interior space. There is a big front grille along with sharper body lines and generous chrome treatment. There is standard LED lighting for the car which creates a premium feel and there is the sloping roof which creates a coupe-esque look. The interiors come with soft-touch materials and new designs and fabric colors for the door trim and seats. There is the optional 10-color wrap-around and customizable ambient lighting. The new Jetta also gets ventilated and heated front seats, leather seating surfaces, memory functions for the powered driver’s seat and Climatronic dual zone automatic climate control.

The 2019 Jetta makes use of the 1.4 litre direct-injection turbocharged TSI engine from Volkswagen which makes 144 BHP and 249 Nm. There is a new 6-speed manual transmission unit on offer along with the optional 8-speed automatic transmission for the base model. This is standard for the higher trims of the car. There is a start/stop system for the automatic transmission units in order to boost fuel economy.
