Even though the new Swift has previously gone on sale in the Japan and European market, it won’t arrive India until the beginning of next year. But interestingly, the next generation Dzire, which is based on this new swift, had made debut in India before several months. It will be expected that current 1.3-liter diesel and the 1.2-liter petrol engine is going to be driven the forthcoming new swift. But, Maruti also evaluates the use of a new 1.0-liter Boosterjet petrol engine for the upcoming 2018 swift and this engine has already powered the Baleno RS. Yet whatever the case with the Baleno, the new Swift may get MSIL with a 1.0 L Boosterjet beneath the RS moniker.

The new Swift is designed on the basis of a brand-new platform, which is found to be extremely light. It may weigh around 840 – 900 kg and this simply proves that there is surely enhanced fuel efficiency. The claimed mileage figures of Swift’s diesel engine is expected around 26-27 KMPL mark. Some of the features of new Swift 2018 include projector headlamps, LED tail lights, LED daytime running lamps, automatic climate control, ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, which is well-equipped with the support of Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and rear door handle mounted with C-pillar.

To consider the safety features, EURO NCAP, which is a renowned independent safety assessment body, has done a crash test on both the variants of Europe-spec 2018 Swift. The standard variant has scored 3 stars in the crash test whereas the completely loaded safety pack model that comes with six airbags has scored 4 stars. So, the vehicle gives around 83% and 75% safety to the adults and children respectively.

For the year 2017, the Swift is offered with a comprehensive makeover. When we see the new generation of the 2018 Swift, it has a number of new styling elements such as a superior single piece grille, a floating roof, integrated LED DRLs and headlamps with the projector units. As similar to that the Chevrolet Beat, the C-pillar is mounted on the door handles of the rear side. When it comes to India, it will surely have an increased ride height with an intention to tackle the Indian roads. The lower level trims would also receive a setup of conventional bulbs for headlamps and tail lamps.

Modifications applied to the dashboard and cabin design are quite more comprehensive. The heart of the console is being dominated by a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system together with circular controls. And these dials would come incorporated with fan speed and temperature displays. Further, the Indian-spec Swift is going to receive a new sporty steering wheel. Also, the hooded instrument binnacle will house a high red MID like Baleno and also provide customizable backlighting as similar to that of the Vitara Brezza. Surprisingly, the new 2018 Swift seems to be shorter than the present model, yet has a great wheelbase. As a result of clever interior packaging, the buyers will get an increased cabin space.
