May 2018 was a stellar month for HCIL (Honda Cars India Limited) as it had total sales volumes of 15, 864 units, thereby representing 41% of growth as compared to May 2017 when 11, 278 units were sold. Exports stood at 516 units for May 2018 as well. A major contributor to this sales growth was the newly launched 2018 Honda Amaze which arrived on the 16th of May.

In a short time period, the new second generation Amaze garnered 9, 789 units in sales volumes. This is heartening for the company since the Amaze was only selling 2, 100 units on an average each month between July and December 2017. The petrol Amaze starts from Rs. 5.60 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the diesel Amaze starts from Rs. 6.70 lakhs (ex-showroom). The automatic petrol Amaze is priced between Rs. 7.40-8 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the diesel automatic variant is priced between Rs. 8.40-9 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The 2018 Amaze comes with the 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol mill that dishes out 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak torque. There is also the 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel mill that churns out 100 PS and 200 Nm. With the CVT unit, this goes down to 80 PS and 160 Nm for the diesel model. The 2018 Honda Amaze has VX, V, S and E grades with the CVT options being available only for the S and V grades.
Honda is gearing up to launch the 10th generation Civic and 2018 CR-V models in the second half of the present fiscal as per reports. 3 more models will follow over the next 3 years with two of them being a sub-4m compact SUV to take on the Vitara Brezza and a 4.3 m SUV that will take on the Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass among other rivals.
