Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) has officially launched 2018 Amaze compact sedan in the country. The new Amaze looks radically different and resembles the larger Honda City in many ways. Honda had started accepting bookings close to a month earlier and production reportedly commenced from early May 2018 according to reports. The petrol Amaze comes for Rs. 5.99-7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The diesel counterpart is priced between Rs. 6.69-8.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The 2018 Honda Amaze gets 15-inch alloy wheels and daytime running lights in addition to the Digipad 2 infotainment system complete with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. Other features include paddle shifters in case of the CVT variants, start/stop button and automatic climate control. There is higher cabin space due to the longer wheelbase of 2018 Amaze while there is a central fold-down rear armrest and rear AC vents.
2018 Amaze makes use of a petrol four-cylinder 1.2-litre engine that churns out 89 BHP and 110 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission unit while there is a 7-speed CVT option available as well. The first-in-class paddle shifters are available for the CVT version as mentioned. The petrol manual and CVT versions offer 19.5 kmpl and 19 kmpl in terms of fuel economy. The 2018 Honda Amaze also gets the Earth Dreams 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that dishes out 99 BHP and 200 Nm in case of the manual 5-speed transmission variant.
This engine makes 79 BHP and 160 Nm of peak torque in case of the diesel CVT model. Fuel economy figures stand at 27.4 kmpl and 23.8 kmpl in case of the diesel manual and CVT versions respectively. There is a 3-years or Unlimited Warranty for the Honda Amaze while buyers can also choose from 4-year and 5-year Warranty plans. There are annual special maintenance packages of Rs. 3, 500 and Rs. 4, 900 for the petrol and diesel models. The service interval is 10000 km or 1 year.
