Ford has finally started rolling with the all-new Mach 1 crossover which they have been planning for quite a few years. Code named CX430 the car is set for a reveal in 2020. The car will be built on the same front-wheel-drive C2 platform as the new Ford Focus. The company has labelled this as ‘white paper’ model which might replace sedans and hatches in its US line-up. The car maker will continue belting out cars with Mustang design cues and front-wheel drive chassis courtesy their attributes like high ride height, space and versatility.
Ford is planning to reduce their global platform to just five as compared to their current 11, as a result of which car models such as Fusion and Taurus sedans may face the axe in North American market. Previously the number was as high as 17. They only plan on keeping the small car platform (Ka), the C2 (Focus), a mid-sized SUV platform (Explorer), an electric car platform (Mach 1) and full-sized truck platform (F-Series). Furthermore the car manufacturer may even join hands with Mahindra to build a few SUV models including an electric version of the Ford Aspire compact sedan.
