The new Ford Freestyle CUV (compact utility vehicle) has finally launched in the Indian market at a price of INR 509,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards for the Ambiente petrol entry-level variant. The entry level Ambiente diesel version comes at INR 609, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Freestyle gets revised front and rear bumpers, new headlamps and tail lamps and a 6.5 inch floating touch screen system inside as compared to the Figo hatchback on which it is based. There is body cladding all around the car as well. The car is positioned as an entry level crossover offering from Ford below the EcoSport compact SUV.
The Trend diesel and petrol models come at Rs. 5, 99, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 6, 99, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively while the Titanium petrol and diesel models are priced at Rs. 6, 39, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 7, 35, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Titanium+ petrol and diesel models are priced at Rs. 6, 94, 000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and Rs. 7, 89, 000 (ex-showroom) respectively. Standard features on the Ford Freestyle include front power windows for the base model along with ABS with EBD and dual front airbags across all trims.
The Trend variant onwards, there are features like a rearview camera, front fog lamps, infotainment unit, Bluetooth and USB, ORVM turn indicators, four speakers, steering mounted audio controls, black C & B pillars, load compartment light, Sienna seat upholstery and a tachometer with the gear shift indicator. The Titanium grade has extra features like 15-inch alloy wheels, driver seat height adjustment, rear washer and wiper, push-button start, silver finished roof rails, 5.8 inch MID, front and rear skid plates, automatic climate control and electrically adjustable and folding ORVMs.
The Titanium+ version gets side and curtain airbags, SYNC 3 infotainment system, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Ford MyKey and a glove box light. The Freestyle gets 190 mm of ground clearance in addition to more interior space. The fuel economy figures are 19 and 24.4 kmpl for the petrol and diesel versions respectively. There is the three cylinder 1.2 litre petrol engine and TDCi 1.5 litre diesel engine options which churn out 96 PS and 120 Nm and 100 PS and 215 Nm respectively.
Both these engines are paired to 5-speed manual transmission systems. The Ford Freestyle comes with color choices such as Canyon Ridge, Smoke Grey, Absolute Black, White Gold, Oxford White and Moondust Silver.
