If you are a diesel car user in Pune then Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has some good news for you. One no longer has to go to fuel stations for refilling fuel as IOC will now make diesel available at your doorstep. IOC chairman and managing director, Sanjiv Singh stated their preference for diesel over petrol as the delivery mechanism is safer. This nation-wide initiative by India’s largest fuel retailer may also be extended for other fuel options like petrol later. Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan mentioned a few months back that they are considering delivering fuel on pre-booking of fuel making queues at fuel stations shorter.

This initiative was originally started by ANB fuels last year who employed three vehicles for delivery of fuel in Bengaluru. Unfortunately the services provided by them is no longer in business as the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) issued a circular stating a ban of fuel supply to ANB altogether. The PESO has been contacted by the three oil marketing companies for issuance of necessary licenses, permissions and evaluation of different modes of distribution.
