The S201 compact SUV is being planned by Mahindra & Mahindra as per reports. The car is expected to launch by the end of this year and will compete with the likes of the Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V. The S201 compact SUV is already being tested extensively in India and will get wraparound tail lamps along with a signature pattern for the LEDs. The compact SUV is expected to be priced from INR 7 lakhs (ex-showroom) onwards as per estimates.
There may be Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the touch screen infotainment system along with black roof rails, alloy wheels and pull-type door handles. There will be a monocoque platform used for the car akin to the one used for the KUV100 and XUV500. The interiors may be more luxurious and an electric sunroof could also be available according to reports.
There will be a diesel 1.5 litre engine available for the Mahindra S201 and a 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine. The power figures for both engines are expected to cross 100 BHP and there could be both automatic and manual transmission systems available. The engines are also expected to adhere to BS-VI norms.
