Mahindra TUV300 to take over the Bolero in Mumbai police fleet

The Mahindra Bolero has been long standing the car of choice for the Mumbai police but that is gradually changing with the Mahindra TUV300 taking its place in the department’s fleet instead. Of all the variants of TUv300 available the Mumbai Police department chose the T4+ variant.

The Mahindra TUV300 comes with a 1.5 litre, three cylinder, two stage turbo charger mHawk diesel engine that produces 80 PS of power and a maximum torque produced by the diesel engine is 230 Nm. The Mahindra TUV300 is mated with transmission option consists of two gearboxes, one is the five-speed manual transmission and the other is the five-speed automated manual transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph speed in 19 seconds. The car claims to give a mileage of 11.4kpl in city and 15.5kpl in highway which is far better than the outgoing bolero. Coming to the styling and exterior the car looks a boxy. The front gets modern styling with the five slat grille, chrome surrounds, angular headlamps, rectangular bumper, fog lamps and more. The B-pillar is painted black and the car gets 10-spoke alloy-wheel. The rear comes with the tailgate mounted rear wheel, vertically stacked tail lamps and the rear windshield which gets black treatment to create a dual-tone effect. Wheel arches are rather rectangular than round, side view is simple, the black treatment around the window frame, dual tone power adjustable ORVMs, body painted outside door handles and window beltline altogether gives the Mahindra TUV 300 a refined look. Some of the noteworthy features inside the cabin include hexa-pod centre console, twin-pod instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system, steering wheel comes with mounted controls for audio system and Bluetooth connectivity, Aux-In and USB port, reverse parking sensors, rear parking assist, climate control and more. On the safety front the car gets various safety features like the driver side airbags, dual airbags at the front and ABS with EBD. Other safety features include disc brakes in front and drum brakes at rear, anti-lock-braking system and electronic brake force distribution, immobilizer, central locking etc. While the outsides of the model get police-themed decals, the interiors are expected to sport minor modifications for police use.
