Maserati Levante SUV launched at Rs. 1.45 crore in India

Maserati has launched the Levante SUV in the Indian market and the 2018 Levante comes with three variants and a diesel engine option. The Levante sports a sleek and aggressive design in tandem with an 8-slit vertical grille and huge trident in the center. There are beefy wheel arches along with side gills which is a signature trait for Maserati cars. The roof flows stylishly to give the car a coupe-esque appearance and there are quad exhausts and a roof spoiler for a sportier appearance.

There is a V6 3 litre turbo diesel engine that makes 275 BHP which is paired to 8-speed automatic transmission and gets AWD. The engine can touch 100 kilometres per hour in just 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 230 kilometres per hour. The drag co-efficient of the Levante SUV is 0.31 while the weight distribution ratio stands at 50:50. There is air suspension coupled with 5 ride levels and electronically controlled damping. The Levante gets several features like the Advance Driving Assist system (ADAS), electric power steering, lane assist, highway assist, traffic sign recognition and blind spot assist.

Some of the optional features include collision warning, start/stop function, lane departure alert, brake assist, surround view, blind spot alert and automatic tailgate system. The interior design inputs have been sourced from Ermenegildo Zegna which is a luxury fashion company from Italy that crafts top class accessories and apparel for men. The interiors are crafted from leather, platinum-effect metal and wood. There will be handcrafted stitching and a touch screen 8.4 inch infotainment unit. Customers can choose from audio systems from Harman Kardon and Bowers & Wilkins. The SUV comes with three variants.

The base Levante variant is priced at Rs. 1.45 crore (ex-showroom) while the top-end GranLusso and GranSport variants come at Rs. 1.53 crore (ex-showroom) and Rs. 1.48 crore (ex-showroom) respectively. The new Levante will be sold at three Indian dealerships in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Globally, the Maserati Levante comes with 3.0 litre diesel and petrol engines. The former makes 271 BHP and 600 Nm. The new VM Motori engine is the same unit that has been used in the Quattroporte and Ghibli. With 90% of torque available under the 2000 RPM threshold, the Levante can touch 0-100 kilometres per in only 6.9 seconds. There is a top speed of 230 kilometres per hour.

There is an 8-speed automatic transmission system for the Maserati Levante. There is the optional Active Sound exhaust which changes its tone based on the driving mode chosen. According to the Head of Operations at Maserati India, Bojan Jankulovski, the 2018 Levante showcases the commitment towards the Indian market which is witnessing higher demand for premium SUVs in the country. The new Maserati is characterized by performance, exclusivity and design.

The Levante comes with driving modes like Auto Sport, Auto Normal and Auto Manual in tandem with the Auto Off-Road mode which increases the SUV’s ride height. There is Q4 all-wheel drive, torque vectoring chassis and conventional hydraulic steering. The Levante makes use of lightweight materials which helps in accomplishing 50:50 distribution of weight and the lowest center of gravity. There is the Maserati Touch Control system which has been upgraded for newer functions. There is the rotary control for the central tunnel along with an 8.4 inch high-resolution display unit.
