Car enthusiasts in India will be excited about the latest reports which claim that Jeep India may be showing the new 2018 Renegade SUV at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Renegade may be shown at the mega event in order to spur greater customer interest in the brand and could be launched by the end of the year or even in early 2019. The car is expected to be manufactured at the Ranjangaon plant of the company near Pune. The Renegade will come with a diesel MultiJet 1.6 litre engine which also does duty in the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 1.6 version. This engine dishes out 118 BHP and 320 Nm and will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission unit or the DDCT 7-speed automatic transmission unit from Jeep.
Jeep India has hit a purple patch with the launch of the Compass SUV which has witnessed huge demand. In fact, burgeoning customer demand has forced the company to postpone the launch of the diesel automatic version of the Compass. The Renegade will look to capitalize on this momentum and will be the most affordable offering from Jeep here. Prices could range between Rs. 9-14 lakhs (ex-showroom) as per reports which will pit the car directly against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and other rivals in the segment.
