Hyundai India is preparing to launch the brand new Verna with new options in terms of engines. The Verna now comes with 1.6 litre diesel and petrol engines. However, there will be a 1.4 litre petrol version of the Verna that will be launched soon although the official announcement is still some time away. In a major development, the prices of the 1.4 litre Verna have been unearthed and they are cheaper in comparison to rivals like the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
The 1.4 litre Verna will come at Rs. 7.29 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai) for the base variant. The EX trim pricing is not known as of yet. The 1.4 litre version is cheaper than its 1.6 litre petrol counterpart by approximately Rs. 70, 000. The official announcement could be made by the company anytime this week. The Hyundai Verna base variant gets dual airbags, 15-inch steel wheels, tilt steering, ABS, trip computer, power mirrors, rear center armrest and a cooled glovebox. The higher version should come with projector fog lamps, keyless entry, front armrest, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a 5 inch touch screen infotainment unit and four speakers, adjustable driver’s seat and rear AC vents.
The Verna will use the 1, 368 cc engine which is also used for the Elite i20 model. However, this engine may be discontinued in case of the i20. The four cylinder mill dishes out 98.6 BHP and 134 Nm. The 1.4 litre Verna will be externally similar to the other versions and will have the same cascade grille in front along with LED tail lamps.
