The Audi E-Tron Concept is close to production since it has already been witnessed testing with production components in Southern Germany according to reports. There are smooth character lines for the car and a marked similarity with the Audi A8 by way of the LED strip that links to the tail lights. The electric SUV is being prepared at the company’s plant in Brussels and will be debuted officially on the 30th of August, 2018, as per reports.
The Audi E-Tron gets a more understated and subtly elegant design as compared to the original concept. Audi is looking to go one up on the upcoming Mercedes Benz EQ electric crossover which will only launch by 2020 by launching the E-Tron soon. The Jaguar I-Pace is already doing well in terms of sales figures and hence Audi’s desire to tap into growing global market demand in this segment.
The new E-Tron is based on the modular platform from Volkswagen which is the parent company. Audi has stated that the new platform will enable a minimum of 500 kilometers with a single charge in terms of the overall range. The pricing will be quite competitive since competing players like Renault offer vehicles like the Zoe at lower price points. Audi may also look to launch an electric sedan by the year 2020.
