Tata Motors has launched the Nexon AMT officially in the Indian market at Rs. 9.41 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the petrol version and Rs. 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel version. The Nexon AMT comes in only one trim which is the top-end XZA+ and is a novel automatic-diesel combo in the compact SUV category. Bookings had already commenced previously for an initial amount of INR 11000/-.

The rear gets the XZA+ badge while there are a new orange and silver exterior finish option. The 6-speed AMT unit is mated to the three-cylinder 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that makes 110 hp and 170 Nm and also the four-cylinder 1.5-litre turbo diesel mill that makes 110 hp and 260 Nm. There is a manual mode available for the automatic transmission unit which shifts the driving mode to Sport. The Revotorq and Revotron engines in the Nexon come with drive modes such as Sport, Eco and City already.

The Nexon AMT also gets the creep feature for driving in congested traffic along with hill-assist. The other features and technology are shared with the manual XZ+ trim. There are features like LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps and 60:40 split folding seats along with 215/60 tyres. There is also a 6.5-inch touch-screen infotainment unit from Harman which is compatible with Android Auto along with a wearable smart key as standard. The Tata Nexon AMT is cheaper by Rs. 1.96 lakhs as compared to the Ford EcoSport Titanium+ AT which is priced at Rs. 11.37 lakhs. However, the Trend+AT trim is priced at Rs. 9.76 lakhs by Ford although it skips several features. The AMT versions are priced around Rs. 40, 000 more than the manual counterparts of the Nexon.

There is no direct rival for the diesel-AMT version of the Tata Nexon. The EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza do not offer this combination right now. However, the Mahindra TUV300 and NuvoSport come with AMT options for their diesel engines so they can be considered as rivals for the Nexon diesel AMT version.
