There are many of us who have had to take long drives across the country via highways. Most of us wonder how this journey would have been easier with better navigation systems and guides. Well, the wait is finally over. A new mobile app called the SukhadYatra app has been recently launched by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari which is the perfect solution for all travelers who avail the highways.

This app has various features including updates on toll plazas, estimated waiting time, toll fee and more. This app is a step forward towards the initiatives of National Highways Authority of India to empower commuters, encourage them to share their on-road experience and thus, in turn, help the ministry to improve public services.

Not only will you be informed about toll booths, one can also communicate to the authorities in situations of emergency whereby you can lodge a complaint on road-related issues, report about a pothole or deteriorated road condition that can lead to accidents, report an accidents that have already taken place, purchase the FASTag tag and more. All you have to do is dial up 1033, a toll-free emergency number that has been recently launched by the Road Transport & Highways Ministry and convey the information.

Once the information has been conveyed the authorities communicate it to the necessary department like an ambulance or towing service for carrying out the next phase of action. The ministry has invested up to Rs.5 lakh for the promotion of road safety via various NGOs, trusts, and cooperative societies.
