The American automaker hasn’t been alien to the segment of premium SUVs, having served up vehicles like the Captiva to the limited customer base. So it’s not new that Chevrolet has come up with yet another huge vehicle – the Trailblazer. Here the saying, ‘Size does not matter’, holds good. The first thing that catches your attention is its massive size. It has substantial dimensions and certainly overpowers competitor vehicles.

This large and masculine SUV sure balances its features out. Facing the vehicle, the nose of the SUV comes with the signature dual port grille which is surrounded by chrome. The same continues to be present around the front fog lamps and side view mirrors. The fog lamps are tucked away in the lower part of the bumper and have a projector set-up and are not halogen fogs. To the side, the 18” wheels look good but for a car of this size, bigger wheels would have definitely matched up to the SUVs personality. To add to the macho tag, the windows are large, the door handles are chunky and the roof rails in dual chrome are bulky which all piece together well.

A cabin that is large and comfortable has a variety of fine materials, highlights and garnishes which are of the best quality. The top half of the dashboard is black in colour and the lower half is coloured in beige which gives out a dual tone effect. To complete the look, the centre console has a glossy piano black finishing. This console consists of a 7” touchscreen that has the latest tech but misses out on a GPS. The knob of the console is surrounded by chrome and this rotatory dial can be used to operate the music system as well as control weather! The gear is plated in chrome and this is a good sight for passengers. Armrests have been provided in the centre of the front as well as rear seats. The front row has bucket seats with electronic power adjustments, the second row seats have a reclining function and the third row has collapsible seats.

A 2.8L 4 cylinder diesel engine is what drives this macho machine. This engine produces a power of 200PS and a torque of 500Nm. This engine is mated to a six-speed AMT.

Its competitor vehicles are Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner.

Our Verdict

The Chevrolet Trailblazer’s interiors resemble its sibling, Cruze’s interiors. And this premium SUV is supposedly the biggest and most powered SUV in its segment. The vehicle’s overwhelming bearing and its impressive interiors are definitely notable. The exterior design is not so boxy and it is longer than a typical SUV and hence, this gives it a much more domineering presence as compared to competitor vehicles in the segment. As is typical of all Chevy vehicles, certain design traits are visible here too. And likewise certain hitches typical to Chevy reflect in the Trail Blazer too. Driving a Trail Blazer ensures one thing; your assertive presence on road will not go unnoticed.
