Our Verdict
The iconic VW Beetle holds a place in the annals of automobile history as a much-loved and revered ‘People’s Car’ and in its first generation run of over 70 years, sold 22 million cars. To keep up its ‘retro appeal’, VW did introduce a ‘new Beetle’, which in many ways mimicked the original, but owing to pricing and slight changes, it couldn’t hold fort as was expected. The ‘new gen’ Beetle was phased out in 2010 and then VW did the next best thing, release the second iteration of the iconic, Beetle. And yes, it is a much evolved, sticking to the originals, yet present gen vehicle, and packaged in its instantly identifiable design.
